The Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission has accomplished its objectives before the 2023 deadline. This development makes the likelihood of sports betting operations in Kansas more likely in time for the official NFL season games.

Regulation Adopted for Final Acceptance

The Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission (KRGC) convened a meeting on Friday, with sports betting regulation as a prominent agenda item, which passed overwhelmingly. 

In accordance with the meeting agenda of the KRGC, a number of critical regulatory terminology have been clarified, including the definitions of freely and involuntarily excluded individuals, layoff, voided and canceled wagers, as well as additional standard language definitions. Sports Betting in Kansas Nearing 

Technically, sports betting became legal in Kansas on July 1, 2022, after Gov. Laura Kelly signed Senate Bill 84 on May 12, followed by a ceremonial signing on June 20. 

Currently, the measure is quite comprehensive, and the initial deadline for regulators to fulfill their responsibilities was January 1, 2023. Even in May, there was confidence that sports betting would be legalized before the end of the year.

Later, it was suggested that everything may be completed in time for football season, with the NFL season being an ideal time for the debut. Local casinos are permitted to enter into agreements with sports venues and franchises and place kiosks inside their facilities. In addition, local casinos would be permitted to collaborate with as many as three iGaming providers for mobile enterprises.

And some sports betting businesses are preparing for Kansas’ entry into the sector. FanDuel has already begun its pre-launch incentives, while DraftKings has already released its own welcoming bonuses for Kansas residents.
