The Nebraska Authority Introduces Self-Exclusion Program

  • The Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission has introduced a new self-exclusion program for state gamblers. Participants in Nebraska can join the new program designed to restrict their access to online casinos and sports betting platforms.
  • The new method allows individuals to self-exclude from gaming for one or more years.
  • The governing body will also provide gamblers with additional resources to curb their tendencies.

Nebraska Introduces a Program for Self-Exclusion

Participants in the commission’s program will be able to voluntarily opt out of all forms of legal gaming in the Cornhusker State. In addition, the portal will give players additional tools and materials to assist them in managing their gaming behavior.

Those who choose to remove themselves from gambling have the option of doing so for one year, multiple years, or for life. Excluded individuals will be denied access to state casinos, preventing them from engaging in irresponsible spending.

The new proposal is consistent with the state of Nebraska’s desire to pave the way for safer gaming in the state.

Last week, the first permanent casino in the Cornhusker State officially opened. It is located at the Thoroughbred racetrack at Lincoln Race Course and features 400 slots.

The self-exclusion program attempts to safeguard those who wish to abstain from gambling at any cost, mirroring the safe practices of other jurisdictions.

A Professional Industry Should Be Committed to Safer Gambling

Tom Sage, the executive director of the Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission, discussed the new self-exclusion program. Despite the fact that many Nebraskans are enthusiastic about the opening of the state’s first casino, the commission is aware that there are plenty who prefer to avoid the sector.

According to Sage, each professional gambling environment should be aware of such individuals and implement safeguards to prevent problem gambling.

Sage urged all problem gamblers and their family members to enroll in the self-exclusion program. Former addict and Choices Treatment Center employee Mike Sciandra applauded the new program.

He remarked that he has participated in self-exclusion programs in the past and is pleased to see one being implemented in Nebraska.

Sciandra remarked that the new program will assist many individuals in establishing order in their life and resisting the temptation of gambling.

Even if some may find ways to circumvent the self-exclusion scheme, it is preferable to have safeguards that prevent the majority of high-risk gamblers from having full access to games of chance.
