Sports Betting in Arizona to Go Live on September 9 sherlock 30. August 2021 | UPDATED ON: 30. August 2021 Post Views: 59 The legalization of sports betting in the state of Arizona is bound to create news and excitement. The State of Arizona legalized sports betting earlier this year and is expected to go live in a few days, on September 9, 2021, the same day as the start of the NBA regular-season start. The state of Arizona issued sports betting licenses to DraftKings, FanDuel, PennNational, and BetMGM. The criteria set for the licenses are a good business track record, the ability to launch within six months, and commitments as to local investments. These licenses are limited to twenty licenses and the four operators are lucky to have secured such elusive and premium licenses. More sportsbooks will now be interested in securing a sports betting license in the state of Arizona. Fierce competition is expected for the sixteen remaining licenses and not all sportsbooks would be able to secure these licenses, making the issuance of licenses to DraftKings, FanDuel, PennNational, and BetMGM a very premium license grant. Earlier in the week, FanDuel and PennNational had announced that they had secured the sports betting licenses while BetMGM and DraftKings have just announced that they have secured these sports betting licenses as well. FanDuel has announced that it has partnered with NBA’s Phoenix Suns while PennNational has announced its partnership with Phoenix Raceway. Adam Greenblatt, Chief Executive of BetMGM was excited by the approval of the sports betting license and mentioned that it was a great opportunity for BetMGM and the Arizona partners of BetMGM i.e. Gala River Hotels and Casinos. He also mentioned that through association with Gala River Hotels and Casinos and Arizona Cardinals along with the connections to MGM Resorts properties, BetMGM is in the process of offering exciting offerings for sports fans in Arizona. DraftKings along with its partner, TPC Scottsdale also announced their excitement of securing the sports betting license in Arizona on Twitter with a short caption, “See you Arizona!” The Arizona Department of Gambling is expected to announce the approval of the sports betting licenses.
