The UK Gambling Commission has launched an investigation into the activities of the organization. The review comes in response to concerns that the activities of the operator were in contravention of the Gambling Act, 2005. It has issued a statement stating that it is working with the Commission in order to get a resolution to the situation.

Suspension of the license by the Commission

The Commission has suspended the operating license of the operator as the review continues to evaluate the possible violations. The review is being undertaken under Section 116 of the Gambling Act, 2005. This was announced by the Gambling Commission last Friday. As per the statement of the Commission, the key factors in reaching the decision were the failures to protect consumers.

The review as well as the suspension that has happened in response to concerns that the operations of the operator are not in accordance with the conditions of the license. The regulator has stated that the license has been suspended as there are concerns about the licensee being suitable enough to carry out the activities that are licensed.

Authorization for the suspension

The suspension of the license has been authorized under Section 118 of the Gambling Act. The Section states that

“The Commission may review any matter connected with the provision of facilities for gambling as authorized by an operating license if the UKGC has reason to suspect that activities may have been carried on in purported reliance on the license, but not in accordance with a condition of the license.”

The section also states “reviews can be launched if the Commission suspects that, for any reason, the licensee may be unsuitable to carry on the licensed activities, or thinks that a review would be appropriate”.

How to operate during suspension

The Commission has stated that it has informed the operator that it is expected that the dealings with the consumers would be fair and that they would be kept fully informed as regards the developments that impact them.
