Bay Mills Casino is in better shape after fire two months ago

The Bay Mills Casino, which is located in Brimley, Michigan, was severely damaged by a fire that occurred two months ago. Despite this, the casino opened its doors less than a week after the fire incident and has been now doing a lot better over the past two months.

Fire-ravaged expensive equipment

The blaze that broke out at the Bay Mills Casino was brought under control before it could spread. The pricey equipment at the venue was destroyed during the event, despite the sprinklers and the best efforts of the firemen who responded to it.

The tribe chair of the Bay Mills Indian Community, Whitney Gravelle, said that although the damage was little, it “struck where it hurts. The casino’s automated teller machines, slot machines, credit card system, reservation system, phone lines, and surveillance system were all damaged as a result of the fire.

The Bay Mills tribe did not issue a public statement including an official assessment of the losses; however, it did say that they most likely amount to thousands of dollars. Saturday was the day when the catastrophe occurred. Sprinklers were activated as a result of fire alarms that were already present in the venue, which helped prevent the fire from spreading across the whole casino. The firefighters arrived promptly and took care of the situation once they got there.

To everyone’s good fortune, they were all able to evacuate the building safely before the fire could do any damage. After that, the casino at Bay Mills offered customers the opportunity to stay at the hotel, as well as financial compensation for those who chose to check out instead.

Players were still able to travel to the Wild Bluff Golf Course and take part in a round of golf after the storm since the course was not harmed. The convenience shops and grocery stores in the immediate area, as well as the local petrol station, stayed open. However, the casino decided not to honor the customers’ bookings for the next five days and instead refunded their money.

Bouncing Back from Tragedy

Gravelle congratulated everyone who contributed to the “monumental endeavor” that was the repairs and referred to it as such. She also complimented the clients for being so kind and noted that she is excited to once again welcome visitors to the establishment.

Gravelle had held the position of chairperson of the tribe for more than a year at this point. Her ability to remain calm under pressure was an asset in mitigating the damage, and it showed that she is qualified for the post.
