Penn National’s theScore Bet completes in-house technology reboot

Penn National’s sports betting platform, theScore Bet, has completely internalized its technology, establishing its unique risk and trading platform in the process.

As a consequence of this move, the company expects to further cement its mobile sports betting service in Ontario, expanding its in-game betting choices, event props, and accessible markets in the Canadian province.

Enhanced Sports Betting Experience

In addition, by bringing theScore Bet’s technology in-house, the company aims to improve the user experience via more personalization and media and betting integration possibilities. Penn’s wagering subsidiary has also deployed its parlay+ function covering ‘all major league sports’ for its sports betting operators after completing the in-house transformation of its IT stack. Penn National has owned theScore since October 2021, when it received authorisation from the Minister of Canadian Heritage to buy the sportsbook, therefore strengthening its position in the country’s developing gambling industry.

Featuring the Vertically Integrated Platforms

Jay Snowden, CEO and President of Penn National Gaming, stated in a press release that the completion of theScore Bet’s technology stack is a major achievement that significantly strengthens its online betting capabilities, mobile product offerings, and overall integrated media and betting ecosystem.

This vertically integrated platform will boost its capacity to engage and retain consumers, offer more flexible pricing, give significant cost savings on third-party platforms, and enable them to create the most individualized product experience on the market.

Snowden’s description of a “vertically integrated platform” includes theScore bet’s risk and trading platform, player account management system, and promotion engine, all of which were created by its in-house product and engineering teams.

John Levy, the CEO of theScore, stated that obtaining technical independence has been a major objective of the firm from its inception, and he could not be more proud of the fantastic team that created this cutting-edge platform from the ground up. Operating on a system in which all components are custom-built to function together improves its speed and efficiency and boosts its capacity to roll out new features, wagering alternatives, and innovations without interruption. The firm is thrilled to provide this upgraded product to Ontario gamblers well in advance of the busy autumn season.
