The most recent data confirm the expansion of Nevada‘s gambling industry and highlight its tax revenue contributions.

Last month, the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB), the state’s gambling administrator, released its most recent report on the performance of non-restricted gambling licensees.

 In February of this year, the total gaming gain was $1.24 billion, as revealed by the gambling watchdog. This result marked an increase of 11.15 percent compared to the same period in 2022.

Recent Report Confirming that the State Gambling Industry Continues to Expand 

The most recent report confirms that the state’s gambling industry continues to expand. In fact, the $1.24 billion figure represents the twenty-fourth consecutive month in which Nevada’s gambling revenue exceeded $1 billion. This result also represents the longest stretch in which the state’s monthly revenues have exceeded $1 billion without interruption.

In a broader context, the fiscal year’s total gaming revenue also increased. The total amount of revenue for the fiscal year ending in February 2022 was $9.6 billion. In contrast, this year’s total gaming revenue for the first ten months of the fiscal year reached $10.1 billion, an increase of 5.55 percent.

Unsurprisingly, the increased gaming revenue culminated in a rise in February tax revenues. In February of 2022, Nevada collected $59.1 million in taxes, whereas in February of this year, the state collected $75.5 million in tax revenue. When the two figures are contrasted, the previous month’s result represents an increase of 28.18 percent, or approximately $16.6 million.

The NGCB provided a breakdown of the $1.24 billion in total gaming revenue reported in February, disclosing that Clark County, the location of the Las Vegas Strip, reported the lion’s share of the revenue. The total gaming gain for this region reached $1.08 billion last month, a 13.84 percent increase from the $949.9 million reported in February 2022.

The total amount of gaming revenue earned by Las Vegas Strip operators increased by 18.92% to $712.5 million, while North Las Vegas operators reported an increase of 8.77% to $24.9 million. In February, Downtown Las Vegas operators’ gambling win reached $74.4 million, an increase of 7.49%, while Laughlin operators’ revenue rose by 6.13% to $45.7 million.

In contrast to Clark County, operators in Washoe County saw a decline in total gambling revenue in February. Last month, the region’s operators reported a total gaming gain of $76.8 million, representing a decrease of 8.08%. South Lake Tahoe operators’ gaming gain decreased by 3.89% to $18.9 million year-over-year, while Elko County operators’ gaming win increased by 3.99% to $33 million last month.
