High inflation causes bettors to wager less money

The study was done online, and all 660 respondents were at least 25 years old. It was conducted between the 18th and 20th of August. 

According to the findings, 81.4% of respondents indicated that excessive inflation has negatively impacted their financial status. 24.2% of respondents indicated they will bet much less on sports, 45.3% will bet “slightly less,” 24% will gamble the same amount, and 6.5% will bet more. 

57.1% of respondents indicated that they have deposited monies to their account using a credit card in the past. As a result, 50.7% of respondents reported having credit card debt.

In 2020, the UK Gambling Commission prohibited the use of credit cards because of such statistics. At the time, research in the United Kingdom revealed that approximately 800,000 gamblers used credit cards to gamble online, and the ban was implemented to protect them from incurring debt and/or suffering gambling-related harm. 

The poll also included several additional fascinating details regarding the preferences of gamblers. 72.7% of respondents indicated that they gambled on their favorite teams more frequently than on other teams.

Spread bets are the most prevalent form of the wager (58.8%). Totals placed second (51,2%), followed by parlays (41,2%), money line (40,2%), and proposition wagers (28,8%). When selecting a sportsbook, 23.2% of respondents indicated that competitive odds are the most important factor. 

With 21.4%, the sign-up bonus was the most important factor, followed by the user experience with 18.3%, and additional promotions and odds enhancements for 15.5%. At 15.2%, fast payments ranked second-to-last. Finally, 6.2% indicated that brand popularity is the most important factor.

A Recent Poll Showed Increase in Sports Betting Acceptance Grows in the US

According to a poll done by the Washington Post and the University of Maryland in July, the acceptance of sports betting is increasing in the United States. The survey of 1,503 adults was performed online between May 4 and May 17 and included 1,503 participants.

According to the survey, 66% of respondents support legalized sports betting, a significant increase over the acceptance rate in 2017 (55%). Even though the acceptance rate is higher, 71% of respondents were concerned that the growing availability of sports betting could lead to an increase in gambling addiction. In addition, 21% reported having a relative with a gambling issue, and 4% admitted to having a gambling problem themselves.
